These detail tools are used when the wood grain runs parallel to the turning bed between the centers.
Profile gouges are used to create inlets, beads and other profiles on cups, vases, bed poles, candlesticks and other lathe projects.
Apart from the length of the blade, the tools are identical to the standard strength gouges. The increased length of the blades allows a further reach into the workpiece.
